Kindergarten Update 4/20 - 4/24

Dear Kinder Families,

I hope your child’s distance learning went well this week.  Can you believe we have already been doing this for a month?  I am so proud of you all and think you are all doing a great job! Here is a peek at next week:
In Language Arts:
The most important way to support your child in reading is to have them work in Lexia for 20 -30 minutes each day. Please let me know if you need any help logging on.
Please practice sight words with your child. Our new sight words this week are: was, there.
Please find the list below and review all sight words:
a, at, and, an, be, can, come do, did, for, get, he, I, it, is, like, look, me, my, make, no, on, she, said,  we, you, go, in, have, will, play, this, that, has, had, one, with, jump, here, they, little and was, because
Our theme this week is learning about snails, ants, and insects.
In Writers' Workshop : We will write a story about a snail with a special super power.
In Math:
We will continue to work on solving CGI word problems using a variety of strategies. We will also be learning about ways to make ten with ten frames, word problems, and using strategies like the number line, drawing pictures, and counting on. In our grade level meeting today Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Avey said the best way to support your child in math is to  have your child work on the Zearn Website. Please let me know how the level is going. I can change levels to increase rigor or to make it easier. If you need help getting on please let me know.
.

Have a super weekend!
Ms. Werner
