Kindergarten Upate 9/7 - 9/10

 Hello Kindergarten Families,

Time is really flying by. We are already entering our fourth week of school!

We have a new student in our class. Welcome Ethan Mansfield! You are a wonderful addition to our class!

This week we will begin our new theme which is all about apples! We will learn about different kinds of apples, do some graphing with the apples, do some apple tasting,  learn about the apple life cycle, learn where apples are grown, and learn about the biggest apple in the world through our Mystery Science program.

In math we will continue to work on number bonds and learning to add. Please continue to work on number identification to 10 if your child is still confused on which number is which. (Flash cards are helpful). We will also work on number formation to 10.

In our language arts theme, we will learn about why we have rules at school and at home. Students will be reading and comparing selections about rules at school and home to learn about responsibility.

We visit the library every Wednesday. Mrs. Lowe is allowing kindergartners this year to check out books. I will be sending the books home today with your child. They may keep this book until next Wednesday. Please be sure to return books every Wednesday or before so that they can check out another book. I think the kids were very excited about being able to check out books!

I have an update on the cafeteria. Students can  receive breakfast before school and at 9 o'clock at our recess time. If students need food they may pick it up at 11:25 and take it with them. The cafeteria will need Students names if they request food after school ( the meals will be free).  On Wednesdays  children can receive breakfast at 9 o'clock and  lunch at 10:30 during their second recess.

Thank you for all the supplies! A shout out to Liz Ricks ( Brekin’s mom) for donating two 24 packs of large and small water bottles. These are for students who forget their water bottles and are thirsty. I don't allow my students to use the drinking fountain because of Covid. I am asking for disinfectant wipes for our classroom. Every day I disinfect with the district approved disinfectant safe for children and I go over that also with disinfectant wipes. I'd like to stock up on them in case they are hard to get later.

It will be nice to have a three day weekend. I hope you all enjoy it and hopefully the weather will be nice!

Fondly,

Cathy Werner
