Kindergarten Update 8/30 - 9/3

 Hello families,

It was so wonderful to see you all at Virtual Back to School Night. I hope I got all of your questions answered. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or questions. I am always here for you!

This week we will continue to work on letter formation- practicing the letters: M, N, Y, Z, and H.

Sight words we will practice and add to our word wall will be: I, like

We will read our first social studies magazine all about how we help to clean up in the classroom as well as help others.

We will continue to review rhyming and do an art project with Humpty Dumpty. We will also weave in a science experiment with an “egg Humpty Dumpty” to see if he will float better in regular water or salt water. It should be lots of fun!

The children continue to do great with being dropped off at the bottom of the stairs or from the park. I am so proud of how brave they are!

Thank you again for all of the generous donations! I have received Mr. Sketch markers, desk wipes, books, and paper towels. It is so much appreciated!

I hope you all enjoy this wonderful weather we are having and have a great week,

Cathy Werner

Kindergarten Update 8/23 - 8/27

 Hello Kindergarten Families,

We made it through our first full week of school! We had fun but I think the kids are exhausted! They are doing such a great job learning all of the school procedures and how our classroom works.

Next week will be our second full week! We will continue to get to know each other, review letters, sounds and hand writing practice, begin writing in our new journals, and focus on patterns and categorizing in math.

Next Thursday, August 26  is our Virtual Back to School night. I will be sending a Zoom invitation for my presentation. It will begin at 5:30 and end at 6:00. I will cover the plan for the school year and answer any questions you may have.

Your child will be receiving a Chrome book this week or the beginning of next week. This will be kept at school for in class learning. If you need a device to log on to our Back-to-School Night presentation on Zoom please let me know and I will send one home with your child for the night. If you need a laptop to do your daily Five Star testing I can arrange to send one home.

A big thank you to Nolan for the hand sanitizer and the disinfectant wipes! Thank you for helping us keep our hands and classroom clean!

This week our classroom could use some paper towels.

 Kindergarten Update                                                                                August 13, 2021

Hello Wonderful Families,

It has been a pleasure getting to know your adorable children this week.  It was a successful two days and I look forward to our first full week together!

The drop off procedure next week will be to walk your child to the classroom on Monday. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday walk your child all the way up to the top yard. This way when you are no longer walking your child the following week the transition will be easier. Please have your child place their backpack on the white line of row 71.

Please be on the lookout for the email from Ms. Green as it has important information regarding next week's drop off and pick up routine beginning on Wednesday.  If you have any questions please let me know.

This week we will continue to work on how our classroom works, practice using one voice at a time, remember to raise our hand if we wish to speak, and generally follow classroom procedures.

The only homework  this week is to complete the Star of the Day paper by next Monday,  to read nightly with you and continue to practice writing their first name.

Please remember to send your child's "Homework Folder" (the plastic folder that was provided on the first day of school) EVERY day to school in your child's backpack. We use this every day to send school work and important information home to you.  Also, if your child is going home differently than their regular routine, please send a written note in their homework folder so we can make sure everyone gets home safely.
